True Vets Ormiston Ltd
True Compassion, True Quality, True Care - see what makes True Vets Ormiston the favourite clinic of hundreds of local clients.
Diagnostic imaging is a very important part of veterinary medicine. It is non-invasive and allows a veterinarian to “look underneath the surface” of a patient to make a diagnosis. Radiology is used to assess a fractured bone, abdominal ultrasound confirms pregnancy (one of our favourites), semen can be carefully placed with the aid of endoscopy to improve the odds of conception, echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart) evaluates blood flow through the heart and dental radiology gives us information about tooth health.
We have custom-fitted our practice with state-of-the-art equipment to allow us to offer all of this, and so much more, to our patients. We also have team members that have experience in using these diagnostic modalities to their full potential.
We offer TRUE quality imaging to our patients.
Advanced Abdominal Ultrasound
Diagnostic ultrasound allows us to visualize the internal structures of a patient in greater detail. We can also take tissue samples with a technique called ultrasound guided fine needle aspirates. This is a non-invasive way to obtain small biopsy samples for laboratory analysis. Dr Adri Rossouw has many years of experience in performing abdominal ultrasounds. She has completed various courses in ultrasonography including hands on training by the acclaimed Universal Imaging in New York.
Echocardiography & ECG
Echocardiography, which is ultrasonography of the heart, provides us with a detailed, dynamic image of the heart. We can assess the heart’s contractibility, determine the source of a murmur (congenital or acquired) and evaluate blood flow through the heart. ECG is used to record the heart’s rhythm. Dr Adri Rossouw has furthered her studies in cardiology, including attending a comprehensive course presented by Dr Ettiene Cote, an American board-certified cardiologist and small animal internist.
Trans Cervical Insemination
Dr Jennifer Dauth is experienced in TCI (trans cervical insemination), a cutting-edge technique for semen placement that does not require the recipient to be anesthetized or sedated and can provide a conception rate of up to 83%!

Digital Radiography
We have invested in state-of-the-art direct imaging digital radiology. We can upload an x-ray image within seconds, at the click of a button. This allows for minimal radiation exposure to our patients and instant feedback, which can be lifesaving in case of an emergency! Our x-ray machine is also integrated with our computer software, ensuring that your patient’s x-rays images will be stored securely for future reference.
Digital Dental Radiology
Dental radiology is a very important part of thorough dental care in our pets. A lot of dental conditions can go undetected without x-ray imaging such as periodontal disease, feline resorptive lesions, persistent deciduous teeth and retained tooth roots to name but a few. Digital dental radiology allows us to get immediate insight about the health of our patients’ teeth. Dr Adri Rossouw has been fortunate enough to work alongside one of South Africa’s leading Veterinary Dental Specialists for numerous years where she received valuable on the job training in dental imaging techniques.
Hip & Elbow Grading
Radiographic evaluation of the hips and elbows of certain dog breeds to assess for dysplasia before breeding forms an important part of maintaining top breeding standards. To ensure that all these radiographs are examined by non-biased specialists to get accurate grading results, all our hip and elbow grading x-rays are submitted to the ANKC panelist for evaluation and interpretation.
Rhinoscopy
Rhinoscopy, the examination of the inside of the nose with a small scope, is a very valuable diagnostic tool in veterinary medicine. It allows us to find foreign objects like grass seeds (a common reason for chronic sneezing in cats and dogs), to assess the nasal passages for pathology and to take small tissue samples. We have invested in a state-of-the-art video endoscope with digital processing technology and an enhanced optical system to provide high resolution, crisp clear images.
Otoscopy
Examining a pets’ ears can be quite uncomfortable as we often do the examination because their ears are painful and thus quite sensitive. A lot of our patients (like humans) prefer not to have a stranger invade their personal space! Therefore, examining an ear with a standard otoscope can be an unpleasant experience but with our digital otoscope we are able to get a beautiful, crisp clear image of the inside of the ear in a less intrusive manner.
